Tangy Citrus Glazed Duck Breasts

The most famous duck recipe is probably duck l’orange, a French creation combining duck with orange. The following recipe is inspired by this classic dish, by also features brandy to fortify the citrus flavor, honey and onion for added sweetness and piquancy, and a little cream to soften the tangy sauce.

The duck is garnished with grapefruit and orange segments, and because it features a rich, creamy sauce, it goes well with noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes. You can use skinless duck if you prefer, since duck skin will not crisp up in a slow cooker, but if you like the flavor of duck skin, then just leave it on.

This is a great recipe to go for if you are planning a dinner party because, like with all crockpot recipes worth their salt, you can pop all the ingredients into your crockpot in the morning and let it slowly cook to perfection while you are occupied with other pre-dinner preparations. The duck will come out tender and delicious, and the sauce is gorgeous too. Slow cooking is the key to a fantastic duck recipe if you want mellow yet amazing flavors, and this recipe allows you to showcase your cooking ability without anyone knowing how simple this recipe was to prepare.
